The Disston D-100 and D-8 models were identical in form and function, except that the D-100 received more decoration with its wheat-carved handle. This particular saw is a mixture of the two. The etch on the plate reads "D-100", while the unadorned handle is clearly from a D-8. It is not a replacement either, as there is only a single set of screw holes in the plate. Disston did not use templates for drilling the holes, so no two handles were exactly the same.
The plate is clean and straight. The etch is faded, but readable under the right light. The apple handle is solid with only one apology - the top horn had been chipped and was smoothed with a file by a previous owner.
The 8ppi crosscut teeth have been freshly sharpened:
Tooth Type: crosscut
Rake Angle: 15º
Fleam Angle: 20º
