Made by Stanley for Shapleigh Hardware, this Keen Kutter K5 is virtually identical to the Stanley Bedrock Type 3. It has the same rock-solid frog design and rosewood handles, differing only in the lateral lever design and its markings.
This particular plane has two issues worth mentioning - the rosewood handle was broken sometime in the past and was poorly repaired and the iron is from its cousin, the KK5. Some might see the latter as a bonus, as this blade is much thicker than that used on the K5.
