Simonds manufactured some of the best steel in the business and used it to make a top quality line of handsaws. This No 8 crosscut saw with a 22 inch long plate is a fine example of their expertise. With a highly tempered, polished plate, it was designed for fast cutting action.
This saw is very clean and straight. The apple handle retains nearly all of its original finish, with no damage other than a few bumps and the paint spatters that seem to collect on vintage tools. The color of this 110 year old wood is amazing.
