The No 8 was one of Richardson's best saws, benefiting from good steel and a nicely carved apple handle.
This example had some pitting at the toe, so it was shorted to 24 inches. Otherwise, the plate is clean and the etch is legible. The top horn on the apple handle had been damaged sometime in its life, so it was repaired by grafting on an apple patch. The finish was blended to match the rest of the handle.
The 5ppi rip teeth have been freshly sharpened:
