The No 120 was one of several wooden-bodied plow planes offered by Hibbard, Spencer, & Bartlett of Chicago. Adolphus Clay Bartlett was one of the partners in the firm and lent his name to this product line.

This plane is complete and in excellent condition. It appears to have been used very little, as there are no wear marks on the boxwood boxing on the fence nor on the body. There are a couple of superficial cracks in the beech body due to shrinkage of the wood over the last 100 years, but nothing that would hinder function. The wooden screws and knobs are in excellent condition, with just a few minor chips and bumps.

The original sales price of $7.52, written in pencil, can still be seen on the side of the body.

After sharpening the blade, test cuts showed its operation to be smooth and accurate.
