Wards Master No. 3 Smoothing Plane -- Freshly Sharpened
Manufactured by Stanley under contract to Montgomery Ward, this Wards Master No. 3 is virtually identical to the Stanley model on which it is based. The only differences are the logo on the lever cap and on the iron. The quality and condition of the casting, the Japanning, and the rosewood handles are very high.
This exemplary example has very few apologies, other than a few scratches on the handles, the requisite paint spot, and some light scratches on the sole. The iron is nearly full length and has been freshly sharpened with a 25 degree primary bevel and a 30 degree microbevel. In testing, it made light, wispy shavings on a piece of curly maple. The rosewood handles are free of chips and cracks.
