Vintage Simonds No 7 Rip Saw 5 1/2 ppi -- Freshly Sharpened
This vintage Simonds No 7 rip saw is ready for work. It has a few blemishes and stains on the blade. The etch is faint. However, it is straight and sharp. The carved apple wood handle has no damage and has beautiful coloration.
If you are not familiar with Simonds brand, they were made by Simonds Saw Mfg Co. from their own high quality steel between 1902 and 1926 when the company left the hand saw market. This particular saw was made sometime in the 1910s.
Many woodworkers consider Simonds steel to be the best made by any of the U.S. steel manufacturers. This is my opinion as well.
