According to Erv Shaffer's book, Bissell & Moore of New York City sold saws for a very short period of time around 1871. The design of the handle and the use of split nut fasteners supports this time frame. A renowned saw collector and historian believes that they were produced in partnership with Disston. He also said that all examples that he has seen have the rounded nose.

This saw, "The Favorite", is in excellent condition. There is little to no pitting on the plate. The etch is very deep and bold. The handle is solid, with full horns. One of the split nut fasteners is a replacement, though it is hard to tell which one was replaced. The teeth are in good condition and were touched up with a file. This saw could be used if the owner so wished.

It is an excellent example of a uncommon saw from a seldom-seen maker.
