Stanley No 4 Type 4 Pre-lateral Smoothing Plane -- 1874 to 1884
Here is a solid example of a Stanley No 4 Type 4 smoothing plane that was produced between 1874 and 1884. The rosewood tote is broken and the knob is missing altogether, but all of the other components are in good condition and are correct for its type. It has the "J" trademark style on the iron and the Bailey patent marking on the chip breaker. The brass adjuster wheel also has the correct patent dates.
Michael Jenks at Just Plane Fun has vintage handles in stock for this plane, so check out his website for these parts and any others you may need to complete your collection.
