CE Jennings No 1 1/2 Crosscut Saw 8ppi 22 Inches Long -- Freshly Sharpened
These don't come along very often. In fact, CE Jennings saws are quite hard to find and this is a nice one. The No 1 1/2 was the skew back (or Hollow Back in Jennings terminology) version of their No 1 model. The 1913 catalog describes it as:
"Extra refined spring steel, polished blades, taper ground, thin back, hand smithed, hammered, blocked, filed, and set ready for use; full bevel; carved and polished, apple handles, five improved brass screws on sizes above 26 inch; smaller sizes, four improved brass screws"
The 22 inch long blade is clean and smooth, with some light staining. The etch is shallow, but readable. The apple handle is clean, with no cracks and only a small chip on the underside of the top horn.
It has been freshly sharpened:
