According to the 1914 Atkins catalog, "This is a companion to the Atkins No 68, excepting that it is made with a straight back. Next to the No 401, it is the finest hand saw that has ever been made. The blade is of Atkins Silver Steel, and is given an extremely fine temper, producing splendid edge holding qualities. Taper Ground, Atkins exclusive Rex Mirror Finish."

"The handle is of thoroughly seasoned applewood, and is given the Atkins exclusive Embossing. Perfection pattern. Varnished all over. Fastened to blade by three nickel-plated screws and nickel-plated medallion."

This particular saw has wheat-carving on the handle, which predates the embossing by a few years. It was likely made around 1910. The handle is in excellent condition, having been skillfully repaired and refinished by a previous owner.

The 22 inch long blade is straight and clean, with a few spots of light pitting. The 10 ppi crosscut teeth have been freshly sharpened:
