Disston No 7 Crosscut Saw 11ppi 1878-1888 Medallion -- Freshly Sharpened
From Disston's classic era of 1878-1888, this No 7 crosscut saw has a nearly full-depth 26 inch long blade and a solid beech handle. Though somewhat stained, the handle has no cracks or chips. It is as strong as the day it was made 140+ years ago.
The blade is smooth and clean, with excellent tension. An 'X' was found marked on the blade under the handle when it was removed. Some believe that this mark, made by the sawmaker at the factory, indicated that the blade was of extra fine steel or that it received extra tensioning. In any case, it cuts quickly and cleanly, with extra fine 11ppi crosscut teeth that have been freshly sharpened.
