Here is a nice example of a Disston No 4 backsaw from the Golden Era of 1878-1888. The 12 inch long blade is clean and straight. The handle has only some light scratches and abrasions acquired over the last 140 years. There are no cracks or chips. The remnants of a paper label can still be seen.
The 14ppi rip teeth have been freshly sharpened:
Tooth Type: rip
Rake Angle: 7º
Fleam Angle: 0º
Slope Angle: 0º
Tooth Set: 0.004"
