Aimed at the do-it-yourself homeowner, the Disston Handy Handsaw was not as fancy as the main line saws nor was it as expensive. Fitted with a beech handle and a less polished blade, it appealed to those who did not use tools often.
This fine example has a strong, readable etch and a solid handle, with no cracks or chips. The blade has a few dings from contact with other tools in the chest, but it is sharp and cuts well. It would serve well as a tool box saw or one to leave at the cabin.
